Probably we can't ever finish how to describe him as a person for what we can see he has done with his body. For me it is art, it doesn't matter in which way you see it or your opinion, because he doesn't care, and his attitude is to carry on with his life in his own way.
The way I see it myself it is just as body art...
Everyone can see beauty in different ways, for me it shows an extraordinary personality and someone very brave .
Our society has so many prejudices and always it will be.
I read an article about his illness at the age of 15, when the doctor told him he had a brain tumour, that could kill him or leave disfigured for life, but it seems the diagnosis gave birth to human body art and to be reborn as Rico the Zombie. Rick Genest is an amazing young man and I think he transformed all the pain he could feel inside at the time into what now everyone can see outside. Everyone can understand how painful it would be to have a tattoo on every inch of his skin, but most of us couldn't understand the pain that has given rise to this extraordinary body art.
Inspiring Mugler's new collection in Paris, modelling on catwalks, or seen in Vogue and in Lady Gaga's music video "Born This Way", this young man has energised the fashion and music world.
To me talent comes from inside, it doesn't matter how you look from the outside, for myself it is just beautiful in a different way.
